QMs CountdowntoXmas Cranberry Jalapeno Salsa and Fun Quilty Freebies

We’re already one full week into December, and Quiltmaker’s Countdown to Christmas continues. One of my favorite holiday traditions is making lovely-to-look-at and even-better-to-munch Cranberry Jalapeno Salsa. The recipe is a conglomeration of some I have tried; it’s very flexible and the proportions are meant to be altered to suit your tastes.

Cranberry Jalapeno Salsa

1 bag of fresh cranberries
1 green pepper
1 jalapeno pepper
1 bunch green onions (or half a regular onion)
1 bunch cilantro
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup orange juice

Optional: add Granny Smith apples or sweet oranges to the mix, in which case you may want to decrease the amount of sugar.

Chop everything to salsa consistency and combine with remaining ingredients. Refrigerate for several hours before serving with tortilla chips. Lovely when served from a clear glass dish.

This year I got a new food chopper from Target called a Ninja Master Prep and it made all the chopping a breeze! I love this so much more than any other chopper I’ve ever had.

And just in case cooking is not your thing, we rounded up some very fun links for you to check out from folks who designed blocks for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 2.

Monica Solorio-Snow at the Happy Zombie is having “5 or So Days of Holiday Happy.” Love this gal’s sense of humor and definitely already printed out some of her freebie gift tags and notecards. So cute!
